Hello! It’s Karen from Creamcraft Goods. Today I’m sharing my project from Janet Wecker Frisch’s of Great Joy Studio newest collection – Art Journal. This collection is right up my alley as I’m an everyday journal writer, ephemera collector, and junk journal maker too. This collection combines Janet’s signature vintage style using vintage prints, text, and images which are simply beautiful!
I used the Flower Press Patch Panel and the Journal Ledger Records print in the collection and made a Trifold Journal Folio that opens up into thirds. The first pocket can hold tools, pens and pencils, or a small notebook. For the second pocket, I used clear vinyl and made smaller pockets to hold small things like ephemera, stickers, small scissors, and other things. The third pocket opens to where you can place a journal into or you can put loose papers, art, or more ephemera. I added a leather button closure to hold it all together.
I used a neat tool to stabilize the front cover of the journal in an oilcloth finish – Heat N’Bond Liquid Vinyl from Thermoweb. It makes the journal cover more stable and and studier as I’m sure I will be tossing this journal around in my studio or tote bags when I’m on the go. You simply paint it on and wait for it to dry, iron, and sew!
I also made a Journaling Tote to go along with the Journal. I added multiple pockets inside and out to store all your journaling tools such as pens, ephemera, scissors, and more. I added leather handles to keep it held together nice and sturdy.
I hope you enjoyed my projects for Art Journal and that it inspires your sewing projects. Art Journal is arriving into stores now, so check your favorite quilt or fabric shops to see if they carry it!
Happy Sewing!
Karen
Just like all your projects, this one is wonderful. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a pattern fornthe bag. The shape is so cute. Love the liquid vinyl info. Will be looking for that to try.
