Reversible Handbag - Milk and Honey for Riley Blake Designs

I was so excited when I had the opportunity to sew with Elea Lutz current collection - Milk and Honey for Riley Blake Designs. I've been a fan of her work (she is also the sweetest person!) since her first fabric collection with Riley Blake came out - Strawberry Biscuit (I also made a bag for that collection too).  Milk and Honey is just so pretty. The colors are soft and beautiful. She even added gold to the already adorable prints of bunnies and strawberries, making it even more cute!

I wanted to make a bag that was classic and pretty, that would highlight just how adorable Elea's designs are. I chose a Granny Style and added multiple pockets to showcase the various prints. The best thing about this bag - it's reversible friends!!

Here is what I made:

Front Side of Bag with roomy pockets

Backside of Bag - I used Elea's panel of prints to the corner of the bag.

Milk and Honey is out now, so check online or your favorite quilt/fabric shop.

Thanks you!

Love Letters Post Bag for Riley Blake Designs

Valentine's Day is in less than a month! Are you ready? I think I am. I made a Post Bag using Love Letters by Lindsay Wilkes from The Cottage Mama for Riley Blake Designs. Lindsay designs the cutest retro style fabric out there and Love Letters doesn't disappoint!

I have to say my most favorite print from this collection is the stripe and of course the retro bears! Lindsay combines ditsy florals with the cutest graphics. It goes perfectly with my vintage books and ephemera collection. I'm simply in love with Love Letters and you will be too!

Here is the Love Letters Post Bag:

The bag features a removable strap, two big front pockets, and a drawstring closure.

The backside of the bag has a clear pocket so you can store and see all your cute things!

I used leather and brass for the strap placement.

I love the postal envelope print and thought it would be perfect for the drawstring closure.

The inside of the bag is cute too and has one large pocket to store maybe stationary and ephemera, or Valentines!

Generous is size, the Love Letters Post Bag hold quite a bit!

Love Letters is available now, so check your local quilt/fabric shop or online! Happy early Valentines Day!

Pretty Basket Box - Flower Show Spring by Liberty Fabrics for Riley Blake Designs

Hello! Welcome back! Although I miss the holidays, I'm over the chaos. I think I'm ready for Spring now how about you? Well, if not, Flower Show Spring by Liberty Fabrics for Riley Blake Designs will make you want the season to arrive already!

I'm currently giving my sewing room a refresh and I've been on the hunt for vintage, timeless pieces, specifically in storage form. I decided to add some handmades to my refresh of the room as well. I wanted to make something pretty that could hold my vintage linens and be passed down as an heirloom eventually, so I created a handmade, weaved basket, using Flower Show Spring. I hand cut and sewed each fabric strip and created a weaved pattern to resemble a basket. I added a vintage battenburg lace doily to the side to give it a vintage look.  I added structure to the body by incorporating a layer for pellon foam as well as plastic cross stitch canvas to make it really sturdy. I added leather handles to the side secured with rivets. I really love this make and hope to make more storage vessels for my sewing room.

Here is what I made:
